About
Biography
Gabriela Gunčíková (born in Kroměříž in 1993) is a Czech singer.
Between 2010 and 2012, she collaborated with the band Mirka Sovy Meryland. In the 2nd year of the competion Česko Slovenská SuperStar, she made it to the final. Although she was the favourite to win the competition, she became 2nd.
On 28 November 2011, Gabriela released her debut album “Dvojí tvář”, which became the 10th best-selling album in the Czech Republic right after the first week of sales. In early 2012, she performed in the musical Kleopatra. On 20 May 2013 her second album, “Celkem jiná”, was released, for which Gunčíková herself was the author of some songs.
In 2012, Karel Gott offered her a guest spot on his tour (October-December 2012). They sang together the song “Nic nás nezastaví”, which was released on his CD “Dotek lásky” in the same year.
In the second half of 2013, Gunčíková established contact with vocal coach Ken Tamplin. Their cooperation initially took place via Skype. Gunčíková had health problems with her vocal cords, as she could not use her voice properly, with which Tamplin was supposed to help her. He later invited her to California. There they recorded several videos together in which they presented different genres of music and what technique to sing in order to maintain a healthy strong voice. Gabriela became the face of the Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy. The videos on YouTube have been viewed by hundreds of thousands of viewers.
The band Trans-Siberian Orchestra accepted Gunčíková for collaboration in 2014 after an audition in Florida. At the end of the same year, she performed a string of about 60 concerts with her all over the west coast of the USA.
In 2015, already as a family friend of Ken Tamplin, she traveled to Hawaii for a short time, where she recorded several more videos with him presenting the compositions of well-known bands and singers from all over the world.
In November 2015, Gunčíková again performed with the band Trans-Siberian Orchestra on their 2015 Christmas tour of Western America. She returned to the Czech Republic for a few weeks a year to visit her family and boyfriend, but she stated that she has no plans to release another record or perform in the Czech Republic in the near future.
Between March 30 and April 17, 2016, the singer performed a string of sixteen Rock Meets Classic concerts throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
On March 10, 2016, Czech Television reported that Gunčíková was to represent the Czech Republic at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm with the song “I Stand”. The first semi-final evening took place on May 10, 2016, in which Gunčíková managed to advance to the final of the competition. This is the historical first success of the Czech Republic in this competition. She became 25th. Gunčíková, however, received praise for the fact that it was indeed a song suitable for this entertainment format and that she appeared very musical when performing, which set her apart from the others.
In 2017, Gabriela worked together with the Swedish authors Sara Biglert and Christian Schneider, with whom she already collaborated at Eurovision 2016, on her third album, which was to be released in the fall of 2017. At the same time, she said that she planned to improve her singing even more.
Gabriela disappeared from public awareness for a long time and was not even active on social networks. It is not known what reasons led the singer to this break. After a long hiatus, the singer announced her return, which she confirmed by releasing new videos in collaboration with Ken Tamplin. In new recordings, she had the opportunity to collaborate with many artists of the world music scene.
Gunčíková announced that she will be one of the performers of the Rock meets classic 2023 concert tour.
