Biography

Evelina Sasenko-Statulevičienė, born on July 26, 1987, in Rūdiškės, Trakai district, Lithuania, is Lithuanian singer. She encompasses jazz, tango, chanson, film, musicals, and other genres. She performed solo by the age of six and learned violin and piano at Rūdiškės music school. She later pursued Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, graduating in 2011.

Evelina’s musical career is marked by numerous vocal competitions, where she often emerged as a laureate. A special place in her heart is reserved for the songs of Edith Piaf, which influenced her taste and became a significant part of her repertoire.

Her career took a notable turn in 2009 with her participation in the TV project Triumfo arka, which featured opera and operetta arias. That same year, she performed at the international festival Copenhagen Culture Night and began her collaboration with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra. This partnership led to performances in various concerts and programs over the years, showcasing her diverse musical abilities.

In 2010, Evelina participated in the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, securing third place with her song “For This I’ll Pray.” She also released an album titled “Chopin Jazz Inn” to celebrate Frederic Chopin’s 200th anniversary, featuring unique arrangements of Chopin’s pieces.

Evelina’s Eurovision journey peaked in 2011 when she won the national selection with her song “C’est Ma Vie,” earning a prize of 25,000 Litas. She represented Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest, securing the 19th position among 25 contestants.

Evelina also explored television, participating in the musical show Žvaigždžių duetai 5 in 2011 and returning in 2012, where she won third place. Her involvement in TV projects like Auksinis balsas in 2013 helped her reach a broader audience.

In 2013, she released the album “Meilės istorija pagal Edith Piaf,” a testament to her admiration for Piaf’s work. However, Evelina’s interests are broad, as seen in her performances in Alfred Schnittke’s “Faust Cantata,” the rock opera “Jūratė ir Kastytis,” and Algirdas Martinaitis’ “Sakmė apie gyvenimą.”

Evelina married Giedrius Statulevičius on May 26, 2018, in the Trakai Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, marking a new chapter in her personal and professional life. They have one son together.

In January 2019, Evelina was part of a concert containing Enya’s songs. In the winter and spring of 2019 she was a jury member in the show The Show Must Go On. In June of that year, she released a new song, “Laimė”. On 15 December 2019, her album “Jausmai” was released. For concerts she teamed up with Polish artist Piotr Cugowski. She also recorded a Lithuanian version of “Let it snow”, called “Šiltos Kalėdos”.

Her song “Tobulas Rytas” was released in July 2020. In November 2021 a renewed concert with Edith Piaf songs followed. In May 2023 the play “Ordonówna”, with Evelina in one of the main roles, premiered. In July we could see her in the show Je Chante Piaf.
