Biography

Eurobandið, also known as Euroband, is an Icelandic technopop and dance duo formed in 2006, consisting of vocalists Friðrik Ómar and Regína Ósk. Prior to their collaboration, both artists had pursued solo careers and attempted to represent Iceland individually in the Eurovision Song Contest but were unsuccessful. Their partnership marked a turning point, leading to their selection as Iceland’s representatives in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest held in Belgrade, Serbia.

In the national selection process, Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2008, Eurobandið competed with the Icelandic-language song “Fullkomið líf.” Upon winning, they translated the song into English, retitling it “This Is My Life,” for their Eurovision performance. On May 22, 2008, they successfully secured a spot in the grand final held on May 24. They achieved 14th place.

In 2010, the duo released “Fullkomið líf” as a digital single, released by the Icelandic label Hands Up Music.

Following their Eurovision participation, both Friðrik Ómar and Regína Ósk continued to be active in the Icelandic music scene, primarily focusing on their solo careers. Their discography includes various solo projects, and they have been featured in compilations such as “Laugardagslögin 2008,” which includes their Eurovision entry.

Beyond his solo endeavors, he has collaborated with several prominent Icelandic artists and has been involved in various musical projects. For example, in 2009 he was a backing vocal in the Eurovision Song Contest joining Yohanna.
