Emmy Kristine Guttulsrud Kristiansen, known professionally as Emmy, is a Norwegian singer-songwriter born on September 13, 2000, in Sande, Holmestrand Municipality, Norway. She grew up in a musically inclined family, which fostered her early interest in music. As a child, she participated in choir activities, laying the foundation for her future in singing.
In 2015, at the age of 14, Emmy competed in the Melodi Grand Prix Junior, the national final for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, with her song “Aiaiaiai.” This experience marked her initial foray into the national music scene.
Emmy’s career progressed as she took part in the Melodi Grand Prix 2021, Norway’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Performing the song “Witch Woods,” she advanced to the final after winning her semi-final round. Although she did not secure a top-four position in the final, the song gained attention and climbed the charts, establishing her presence in the Norwegian music industry.
Beyond traditional media, Emmy expanded her reach through social media platforms, particularly TikTok, where she garnered over 1.2 million followers. Her content resonated with a global audience, enhancing her visibility and influence as an artist.
In 2024, Emmy engaged in various songwriting sessions across locations such as Los Angeles, Latvia, and France, collaborating with different artists and producers. These experiences contributed to her artistic development and broadened her musical perspectives.
A significant milestone in Emmy’s career occurred in January 2025 when she was announced as a participant in Eurosong 2025, the Irish national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. She competed with the song “Laika Party,” which she co-wrote with Kilbeggan-based singer-songwriter Larissa Tormey. The collaboration originated from their meeting at a songwriting camp in Norway.
Emmy has released numerous singles throughout her career. Her discography includes “Bjørnar” (2016), “Frightened of Lightning” (2016), and “Jeg ser at du har ringt” (2018). In 2019, she released “The Little Boy” and “Er det du som har tatt den?”. The following year, she introduced “Gunnar” and “If Only” (2020).
Her music continued to evolve with “Collection” (2021), “Brilleskille” with Ole Hartz (2021), and “Some Say” (2021). In 2022, she released “Venus (Why Don’t We Run)”, “Juliet”, “Dear Sandman”, and “Dear Santa”.
In 2023, she shared “Just a Ghost”, “DotA” with J.O.X, “She”, and “Haunting You”. The year 2024 saw multiple releases, including “Vil ha dig” with Unge Lama, “Lose My Love”, “Dancing Alone”, and “Om du var min” with J.O.X. She also collaborated on “Ain’t Nobody” with Braaten, “The Hanging Tree” with Braaheim and Ilyaa, and “Boten Anna” with J.O.X and Hubbe. Additional 2024 releases include “Behind Blue Eyes” with Braaheim and Ilyaa, “Say You Love Me” with Braaheim and Ilyaa, “Lie to Me”, “Monster”, and “Left Outside Alone”.
In 2025, she released “Mom Is Home” with K-391 and Nick Strand.
