Biography
Emly Starr is a Belgian singer, born in the Flemish town of Wetteren, but grew up in Laarne. When she started her career her professional name was Heidi, but she soon changed it into Emly Starr. Her debut single was “Tears of gold” in 1976. Two years later, she performed in a movie called “Santiago Lovers”. In the same year, “No, no, sheriff” was her first hit. In 1980, she took part in the World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo. The following year, she won the Belgian preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest and so she went to Dublin to represent her country in the contest with the song “Samson”. She made tours through Japan and South Korea. In 1983, she played in a movie called “Springen”, and sang the main theme of the movie, “Jump in the dark”. Three years later, she decided to make the choice for a career behind the scenes, organizing musical events. However, she still kept on singing and sang duets with among others Salvatore Adamo and Tom Jones. She released a new CD in 2005, and another one in 2008.
