Biography
Ellen Helen Nikolaysen is a Norwegian singer and actor, born in Oslo. She began her career when she won NRKs Talent ’70. She participated in the Eurovision Song Contest as part of Bendik Singers in 1973, with “It’s just a game”, in 1974 with the Bendik Singers with “The first day of love” and again in 1975 as a solo artist with “Touch my life with summer”. In 1974 she won the “Best Performance Award” in the World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo. She was nominated for the Spellemannprisen in 1973 and 1976.
In 1977 she married Terje Gulbrandsen, and had the children Christer Gulbrandsen and Lene Viktoria Gulbrandsen. She then toned down her musical career for a few years before making a comeback on the musical scene, In 1984, she took part again in Melodi Grand Prix with the song “Opus”. At the beginning of the 1990s she played the role of Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd at the Norwegian Theater. She has since played in several editions of the “Bærums Vers spillet”, and in “Den Gode Hensigt”.
