Didrik Solli-Tangen

Didrik Solli-Tangen, born on June 11, 1987, in Porsgrunn, Norway, is a distinguished Norwegian singer. Growing up in the small town of Heistad in the municipality of Porsgrunn, he was raised alongside his younger brother, Emil Solli-Tangen, who is also a singer.

In 2009, Solli-Tangen first gained attention as an opera singer in the USA. Pursuing his passion for music, he studied classical singing at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo, where he formed a close friendship with fellow musician Alexander Rybak.

Solli-Tangen’s major breakthrough came in 2010 when he competed in and won the Melodi Grand Prix with the song “My Heart Is Yours,” written by Hanne Sørvaag and Fredrik Kempe. His victory in the competition led to him representing Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010, held on home soil, where he finished in 20th place out of 25 contestants. On January 23, 2010, he had advanced from the semifinal in Skien to the final in Oslo Spektrum alongside the band A1.

Following his Eurovision participation, Didrik continued to make his mark in the Norwegian entertainment industry. In the spring of 2012, he emerged victorious in the celebrity edition of the Norwegian reality competition 71° North. Two years later, in the fall of 2014, Solli-Tangen took on the role of a host for the dance competition show Skal vi danse, alongside Katrine Moholt.

In the fall of 2017, Solli-Tangen was a contestant in the NRK program Stjernekamp, showcasing his versatility across various musical genres and finishing as the runner-up to Adam Douglas.

Returning to the Melodi Grand Prix stage, Solli-Tangen participated in the 2020 edition of the contest alongside his brother Emil with the song “Out of Air.” That same year, he released his first Christmas album, featuring the A-listed title track “Det skal bli jul” on NRK P1.

In 2021, Solli-Tangen expanded his repertoire by participating in the second season of the NRK competition Maskorama (The Masked Singer), where he performed incognito as The Snow Monster. He won the competition, captivating over 1.2 million viewers in the finale broadcast on December 11, 2021. A year later, he dubbed the voice of Scrooge in the Norwegian version of “A Christmas Carol”. Didrik wrote a book, “Lær å synge som en proff”, that was released in 2023.
