Biography
Connect-R is a Romanian singer and rapper of Roma origin. He started his career at the age of eight as a dancer. From the age of 15, hip-hop has become one of Connect-R’s great passions. He first entered a studio in 1997, to record his first song, “Observ”. In 1999, he launched a new song called “Operație pe suflet deschis”, which reached the 2nd place at the Romanian charts. The first collaboration of Connect-R with a big name in the Romanian showbusiness was for the song “Fără nume” of the band R.A.C.L.A .. He took a step forward in his musical career in 2006, setting an impressive record: that year he was the first rapper to perform on the Eurovision scene. Together with Arsenium and Natalia Gordienko, he represented Moldova inwith the song “Loca”. The record series did not stop there, Connect-R being the only artist to have 6 tracks simultaneously on the Radio 21 charts. Connect-R released the album “Dacă dragostea dispare” in 2007. In October 2008 he released the video for the second single from the album: “Nu-ți pierde dragostea”. In 2009 released two songs in English: “Burning Love” and “Murderer”. In 2010 he participated in the national Sselection for Eurovision with Anda Adam with the song “Surrender”. The same year he won the “Best Song” award at the RMA contest. He set up the production house Rappin ‘On Production, teaming with Chris Mayer and Nick Kamarera. In 2011 he reached the Top 100 2011 on the radio, with “Americandrim” by Puya, featuring Connect-R. In 2012 he created a summer hit, called “Vara nu dorm”, which topped the charts for 22 weeks. In the same year he also released the song “Love Is The Way”. In the same year, Connect-R released his second album, “From Nothing to Something”. The album could be found together with the newspaper Libertatea. In 2013 he created a new summer hit called “Dă-te-n dragostea mea”. On May 20, 2016, he released his third album, “Dragostit”.
