Biography
Citi Zēni (Other Boys) is a Latvian hip-hop and pop group. The band consists of Jānis Pētersons (vocals), Dagnis Roziņš (vocals, saxophone), Reinis Višķeris (keyboards), Krišjānis Ozols (guitar), Roberts Memmēns (bass) and Toms Kagainis (drums). They gained wide recognition at the end of 2020 with the song “Vienmēr kavēju”. They reached the 2nd place in the song competition “Muzikālā banka 2021” organized by Latvijas Radio 2, with the song “Limuzīns uz krīta”. They also participated in “Supernova 2022”, the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, with the song “Eat Your Salad”. By winning the conest they got the opportunity to represent Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.
Citi Zēni was the first one of the participants to claim they did not want to participate as long as Russia would be among the contestants. EBU decided not to allow Russia in the contest.
The band also faced problems with the lyrics of “Eat your salad”. They were not allowed to sing the word ‘pussy’. Their solution was to let the audience do it.
