Biography
Célia Lawson is a Portuguese singer, born in Angola. At the age of 15 she started to sing in several bands., first she only sang covers and later originals. In 1992 she was part of the Adelaide Ferreira choir during her tour.
In 1993 she joined V12, a well-known metal band. She also collaborated with Crash, a hard rock cover band. In 1994, she performed choirs for Ed Sant’ana’s “Imagens de Música” theme, presented at one of the semifinals of the RTP Festival da Canção. In 1995, she collaborated with Huanine, a group led by Laura Diogo. In 1996 she participated in the program “Chuva de Estrelas” where she reached the final.
In 1997 she won Festival da Canção with the song “Antes do adeus” and represented Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest. In the same year the album “First” was released. In 2002 she released the promotional CD “Célia Lawson”.
She changed his stage name to Ira and released a progressive metal album called “On The Road To The Unknown” that had positive reviews in “Loud” magazine.
