Biography

Brita Borg, born in Stockholm, was a Swedish singer, actor and revue artist. She began her career in therevue group Vårat gäng after winning a singing competition in 1943. In 1945 she formed the singing quartet Flickery Flies with Allan Johansson, whom she then married. She starred in a radio show and was the primadonna in numerous revues between 1952 and 1962.
In the 1950s, Brita Borg was a Swedish Schlager Queen. She made many recordings. Her biggest record successes were “Fat Mammy Brown” (1957) and “Trudie” (1959). In 1959, it was decided that whatever song would win in the Melodifestivalen, Brita Borg would go to Cannes and sing it in the final. It was the song “Augustin” she presented in the Eurovision Song Contest. She tried on more modern noises in Frankenstein rock in 1957 but eventually became the backbone of younger, sexier but less vocal singers. Stikkan Anderson and Björn & Benny gave her one last hit with the song “Ljuva sixtital”, which was on the Swedish peak for 20 weeks in 1969. But it is mainly as a revue artist Brita Borg made a historical impression in amusement Sweden
Brita Borg died on 4 may 2010.
