Biography

Boulevard was a Finnish band, founded by Kyösti Laihi and Erkki Korhonen. They first appeared in Hotel Olympia’s restaurant in 1983. In addition to Laih and Korhonen, the original line-up included Matti Auranen and Tuomo Tepsa. Over the years, they have played together with numerous musicians, including Juha Lanu, Kari Vehkaluoto and Jari Puhakka, known as a television conductor. In 1987, Boulevard formed the backing choir in the Eurovision Song Contest, when Vicky Rosti represented Finland with the song “Sata Salamaa”. One year later, Boulevard itself represented Finland with the song “Nauravat silmät muistetaan”. Erkki Korhonen left Boulevard in 1994 to form a new band called “Avenue 7”.
