Biography

 

Boaz Ma’uda is an Israeli singer and songwriter. He was born on April 23, 1987, in Elyakim, Israel

Growing up in a Yemenite-Jewish family, music was an integral part of Boaz’s life. In 2007, during his military service and without prior stage experience, he auditioned for the fifth season of “Kokhav Nolad” (“A Star Is Born”), the Israeli version of “American Idol.” His performances captivated the audience, leading him to win the competition and achieve national fame.

In 2008, Boaz was selected to represent Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest held in Belgrade, Serbia. He performed the song “Ke’ilu Kan” (“The Fire in Your Eyes”), written by Dana International and Shai Kerem. His performance earned him a place in the Eurovision final, where he finished in 9th place with 124 points, a notable achievement for Israel.

 

Following his Eurovision success, Boaz released several notable singles and collaborations. “Oreach Ba’olam” (“Guest in the World”) was released on August 3, 2008, this heartfelt single, written and composed by Keren Peles, became a hit in Israel. “Lachzor HaBayta” (“To Return Home”) was another collaboration with Keren Peles. This single was released in March 2009, further showcasing Boaz’s emotive singing style. “Time to Pray” was duet recorded in 2009 with Armenian singer Sirusho, who also competed in Eurovision 2008. This song carried a message of peace and unity.

In 2009, Boaz released his debut album, “Boaz Ma’uda”, featuring a mix of Hebrew and English songs. Tracks like “Ma Yafit” and “Smeichim” became favorites, reflecting his ability to merge cultural roots with contemporary music. He performed extensively in Israel and internationally, participating in concerts celebrating Israeli music.

Between 2010 and 2015, Boaz continued to release music and participate in cultural events and festivals across Israel. Notable singles from this period include: “Shnei Melachim” (“Two Kings”), a collaboration with Israeli singer Idan Yaniv, blending their distinct vocal styles. After that he released a solo single, “Yom U’laila” (“Day and Night”), followed by “Hallelujah” a rendition of the classic song.
