Biography
Bill van Dijk is a Dutch singer, actor and musical performer. He was born in Rotterdam but studied theatre and drama in Amsterdam and London. Directly after his study he played in the musical ‘Hair’. He also played main roles in “Godspell”, “Een kannibaal als jij en ik” and “Dear Fox”. He played in movies such as “Blue movie”, “Lieve jongens”. “Hoge hakken, echte liefde”. For television he sang songs in the show “Kortjakje is weer beter” and he did a lot of voices for the Dutch version of Sesame Street. In 1982, he represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Jij en ik”. Bill van Dijk sang the national anthem “Wilhelmus” very often when the Dutch national soccerteam had to play.
Bill van Dijk played in almost all the big musical productions from Joop van den Ende theaterproducties. His international breakthrough came with his role of Cyrano – de musical. He played the role in the Netherlands, but after that he went to Broadway to play the same role there. He also was the first Dutch musical actor to play at West End.
