Biography
Avi Toledano was born in Meknes, Morocco. He moved to Israel when he was 16 years old. In 1969, he took part in the Israeli Song Festival and became 3rd. One year later, he released three albums so far, he won the Children’s Song Festival together with 10-year old Irit Anavi. He continued performing and making albums during the seventies, and acted in a number of movies. Towards the end of the seventies, he toured Europe, and in 1978 came out with a solo performance, “La Boheme,” singing songs by Charles Aznavour. In 1981, he took part in the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest and became 3rd. One year later, he was more lucky and represented Israel with the song “Hora”. Again, one year later, he wrote the Israeli entry which was sung by Ofra Haza. Toledano kept on writing songs for others but also released two more albums and a single every now and then. In 1989, he did another attempt to go to Eurovision with the song “Dayenu”, but he became 2nd. Avi Toledano is still avtive as a singer.
