Biography

Aska was a Yugoslav female pop group that was very popular during the 1980s. The group was especially formed to participate in the 1982 national final for the Eurovision Song Contest. Their song ‘Halo, halo’ composed by Sanja Ilic, won the national selection and represented Yugoslavia at the 1982 Eurovision Song Contest. The original lineup of the group consisted of Snežana Misković, Izolda Barudžija and Snežana Stamenković. The last one left the group immediately upon returning from Eurovision, and was replaced by Suzana Perović. In 1983, Nariman Nera Mahmud joined Aska.
In 1982, Aska released their debut album “Disco Rock”. The album featured disco covers of some of the then most popular Yugoslav rock songs. Two years later they released the album “Katastrofa”, which singled out the songs “Katastrofa”, “Htela bih da si tu”, “Ako hoćeš, ako možeš”and “Ulice mračne nisu za devojke”. The group disbanded five years after its founding in 1987.
