Biography

Arvingarna (the heirs) is a Swedish dansband and pop group that has been active since 1989. The band was formed in Partille, Sweden, by four childhood friends: Casper Janebrink (vocals, bass), Kim Carlsson (vocals, guitar), Lars “Lasseman” Larsson (vocals, keyboards, guitar), and Tommy Carlsson (vocals, drums). With their signature mix of dansband, schlager, and pop, they quickly became one of Sweden’s most well-known groups.

Their breakthrough came in 1993 when they won Melodifestivalen with “Eloise”, a song written by Lasse Holm and Gert Lengstrand. This victory earned them the right to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest in Millstreet, Ireland, where they finished seventh. The song became an instant classic and remains one of Sweden’s most beloved Eurovision entries. Following this success, Arvingarna released their album “Eloise”, which became a major hit and cemented their status as one of Sweden’s leading dansband acts.

Throughout the 1990s, Arvingarna continued to dominate the Swedish music scene. Their debut album, “Coola killar” (1992), had already introduced them to audiences, and after “Eloise” (1993), they followed up with more successful albums like “Tjejer” (1994) and “Lime” (1999). Their ability to blend traditional dansband music with modern pop elements helped them maintain their popularity. In this decade, they also returned to Melodifestivalen several times, finishing third in 1995 with “Bo Diddley” and again in 1999 with “Det svär jag pÃ¥”.

Moving into the 2000s, Arvingarna continued to release music and perform extensively. They competed in Melodifestivalen 2002 with “Ingenting är större än vi”, but this time, they did not reach the final. Despite this, they remained one of the most active dansband groups in Sweden, consistently touring and engaging with their fanbase. Their contributions to Swedish music were recognized with several awards, including a Swedish Grammis Award for Best Dansband in 1992 and multiple Guldklaven Awards.

After years of steady success, Arvingarna made a big comeback in 2019 with “I Do”, their entry for Melodifestivalen that year. The song brought them back into the public eye, finishing 7th in the final and gaining popularity among a new generation of fans. In 2021, they returned with “Tänker inte alls gÃ¥ hem”, a song that became a major hit despite finishing 8th in the final. The following year, they participated again with “Higher Power”, though this time, they were eliminated in the semifinals.

In 2022, Arvingarna joined the cast of SÃ¥ mycket bättre, a Swedish music show where artists reinterpret each other’s songs. That same year, they released the album “Trevligt att träffas”, featuring both original songs and covers of Swedish classics. Their ability to stay relevant in the music industry after more than three decades speaks to their talent and adaptability.
