Biography
Although born in Reykjavik, Ari Ólafsson spent a part of his childhood in Florida, USA. Selma Björnsdóttir discovered him when he was eleven years old. He got the leading role in the musical Oliver !, which was performed in Borgarleikhúsið. After the Norwegian singer Sissel Kyrkjebø became aware of him in 2011, she invited him to various performances. In 2015 Ari Ólafsson took part in the Icelandic version of the singing competition The Voice.
In 2018, he represented Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Our choice”. Unfortunately, he didn’t reach the final. On June 28, 2019 Ari released his debut single, “Too good”.
Ari moved to London to study at the Royal Academy of Music, where he got a degree in opera in May 2022.
