Biography
In 1984, the then relatively unknown Anita Spanner participated in the Austrian national final for the Eurovision Song Contest. She won the ticket for Luxembourg with the song “Einfach weg”.
Despite her bad score, her entry to the competition in Austria was a commercial success: it rose to first place in the Austrian singles charts and stayed in the Top 20 for ten weeks. Anita recorded more singles and albums, but did not make it back into the charts. In 1991, she took part in the Austrian national final again with the song “Land in Sicht”. In the mid-1990s, the now married Anita Wagner withdrew from the music business and has since focused on her job as a lawyer assistant. She is married, has two children and lives in Oberdorf in Burgenland. In 2008 she returned to the stage.
