Biography

Andy Abraham, born on July 17, 1964, in North London, England, is a British singer renowned for his soulful voice and dynamic stage presence. Before rising to fame, he worked as a refuse collector and bus driver. His musical journey took a significant turn in 2005 when he became the runner-up on the second UK series of “The X Factor,” narrowly missing the top spot to Shayne Ward.

Following his success on “The X Factor,” Abraham released his debut album, “The Impossible Dream,” in March 2006. The album entered the UK Album Chart at number two, selling 176,000 copies in its first week, and achieved Platinum certification with total sales around 300,000. He followed this with his second album, “Soul Man,” in November 2006, which reached the Top 20 in the UK Charts and included the Christmas song “December Brings Me Back To You,” a duet with television presenter Michael Underwood.

In 2008, Abraham represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest with his self-penned song “Even If.” He finished in 25th place.

In 2012, he released his fourth album, “Remember When,” a collection of songs that influenced him over the years, along with two new tracks. The album was released as a book package, featuring Abraham’s commentary on each song choice.

In 2019, Abraham embarked on a nationwide tour titled “Andy Abraham Presents: The Nat King Cole Songbook,” paying tribute to the jazz and swing legend Nat King Cole on the centenary of his birth. The tour spanned 23 dates across the UK, where Abraham performed Cole’s iconic songs, offering audiences a nostalgic experience.

Beyond his musical endeavors, Abraham has participated in various television programs. In 2019, he appeared in an episode of the comedy TV show “Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back,” and in 2023, he featured in a special episode of the British television program “Bargain Hunt,” celebrating the Eurovision Song Contest’s return to the UK after 25 years.
