Biography

Aliona Moon, whose real name is Aliona Munteanu, was born on May 25, 1989, in Chișinău and is a celebrated pop artist from Moldova.

Moon first stepped into the limelight in 2010 when she competed in the Moldovan edition of the Fame Academy, known as Fabrica de Staruri 2. Her notable performance earned her a third-place finish. In 2012, she broadened her experience by providing backing vocals for Pasha Parfeny at the Eurovision Song Contest.

In the following year, Aliona’s career took a significant leap forward. She performed her pop single, “A Million,” in the pre-selection round for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Moldova. Out of 24 competitors, Moon stood out and was chosen to represent Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest held in Malmö. Subsequently, she decided, in coordination with Moldovan broadcaster TRM, to perform the Romanian version of her song, “O mie” (“One thousand”), at the contest. This decision paid off, as she succeeded in reaching the final and secured an impressive eleventh place.

In 2014, Aliona expanded her repertoire by participating in Vocea României, Romania’s version of the popular show The Voice. She again demonstrated her talent by reaching the final and clinching the fourth position.

In May 2015 she released a new video, “Loc pentru dragoste”. She was also involved in the Christmas show of The voice Romania in 2016. In 2017 she was a member of the selection committee for the Eurovision entry. She also took part in the show Uite Cine Danseaza (Dancing With The Stars).

In 2018 Aliona performed in The Netherlands at the Eurovision event J’aime La Vlie. In September 2020, she started to work as a vocal coach.

For Christmas 2021 she and Pasha Parfeny sang a Romanian version of “Hallelujah”. In February 2022 Aliona signed a contract at the independent music label Versus Artist. “Iubește-mă așa” was her first single at this label in August. In November the song was followed by a new one, “Voi fi”.

Aliona participated in the pre-selection round for the Eurovision Song Contest in Moldova. Her performance of “Du-mă” won her the third place. In May the follow up of the song, “Planeta ta” was released.
