Ukraine decides!

Tonight, Ukraine decides after two semifinals. The show starts at 18:00 CET and can be watched here. Sergey Prytula will be your host as six songs will go for the title. A jury, made up of Andriy Danylko, Tina Karol and Vitaliy Drozdov, will decide 50% of the results, where televoters decide the other 50%. The contestants are: Krutь, “99” Jerry Heil, “Vegan” Go-A, “Solovey” David Axelrod, “Horizon” Khayat, “Call for love” Tvorchi, “Bonfire” Khayat took part last year but failed in the semifinal. Tonight he is one of the favorites to win the ticket to Rotterdam.

Semifinals in Sweden and Portugal

Tonight, two more semifinals will be held: in Sweden and in Portugal. We start with Sweden. The show starts at 20:00 CET and can be watched here. It is the last regular semifinal; next week we will have a second chance contest (Andra Chancen) and the week after Sweden selects it’s entry. The contestants are: Frida Öhrn, “We are one” William Stridh, “Molnljus” Nanne Grönvall, “Carpool karaoke” Victor Crone, “Troubled waters” Ellen Benediktson & Simon Peyron, “Surface” Jakob Karlberg, “Om du tror att jag saknar dig” Hanna Ferm, “Brave” Ellen Benediktson took part in the 2014 and 2015 Melodifestivalen. Her duetpartner Simon Peyron was also present in 2014 as a member of the band Outrigger. Hanna Ferm took part in 2019. Victor Crone took part in 2015 and represented Estonia last year in the international final. Nanne Grönvall represented Sweden in 1996, with the band One More Time. Besides, she took part numerous times in Melodifestivalen, both with the band Sound of Music and as a solo singer. She also took part once in A Song For Europe, the Brittish national final. Eight winners in entre act Eurovision Final

However, eight former Eurovision winners will enter the stage. That is what Gerben Bakker, head of show at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, announced today at the tv-show Op1. He was accompanied by former winners Getty Kaspers (Teach In) and Lenny Kuhr. Bakker explained that the entre act will partially take place live on stage and partially at other places in Rotterdam. The three didn’t want to reveal what places, but Lenny Kuhr said that she did not have fear of heights, so we think of either the Erasmus Bridge or the Euromast.The eight singers, performing in the Eurovision final, will be: Gigliola Cinquetti Lenny Kuhr Getty Kaspers Sandra Kim Paul Harrington & Charlie McGettigan Alexander Rybak Duncan Laurence

Another entry has been presented this morning. The Belgian representants Hooverphonic presented their song. It’s called “Release me” and it speaks about composer/group member Alex Calliers Esther who was seriously il and later passed away . Today, live from the Tour Eiffel, Tom Leeb sang “The best in me”, the song that will represent France in the Eurovision Song Contest. The song is composed by John Lundvik, Thomas G:son and Peter Boström. The lyrics are co-written by Amir Haddad en Léa Ivan. Although it was known some time already, the song was chosen before the singer. It’s a bilingual song. You can watch the song here

After an exciting, but also scandalous, evening Ulrikke Brandstorp has won the Norwegian ticket for the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam. Exciting because of so many strong songs competing. Scandalous, because the first four finalists were not chosen by televoting, but by a backup jury. Due to technical problems, the audience was not able to vote.
