Sweden: Melodifestivalen 2023 Semi Final results

Today the Semi Final of the Swedish national final Melodifestivalen has taken place. Since heat 1 there have been two songs advancing direct to the final, and two songs to the Semi Final.    There were eight songs competing against each other. Almost every qualifier has competed in Melodifestivalen before. Germany: Lord Of The Lost has won Unser Lied Für Liverpool

The annual German selection has taken place tonight. A lot of new talent has performed tonight, but the ultimate winner was Lord Of The Lost with “Blood & Glitter”. The Gothic band isn’t fully unknown troughout Europe, as they have toured with the popular Metal band Iron Maiden.  The tour resulted in multiple hit singles, and even in giving it a shot on the Eurovision stage. They were given a tough spot, as they had to compete against the popular Ikke Hüftgold who won the TikTok wildcard.   This year’s jury for Unser Lied Für Liverpool was fully made out of former Eurovision artists, like Jamala, The Roop’s frontman Vaidotas, and Gjon’s Tears. Their favorite act of the night was Will Church with “Hold On”. Their least favorite act was Ikke, who had only recieved 10 points. The public didn’t agree with that, as Ikke was the second most voted-on artist of the night. Will Church on the other hand only got eight points. In the end Lord Of The Lost won, with a 78 point difference. They will represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest. Käärijä wins UMK for Finland 2023

Tonight was the big final of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2023! Just like last year, the Finnish national final was really strong.  We’ve had big superstars, and new talent compete at this years UMK. The most famous one being Robin Packalen. He’s a been singer in Finland since 2008. The newest talent tonight was female pop singer Keira with “No Buisness On The Dance Floor”. She was the runner up of last years The Voice Of Finland.    However the most popular superstar of tonight was Käärijä. He began his music carreer in 2016 with Urheilujätkä. The song didn’t blow up, but also didn’t stay unheard as it has gathered one million streams. He has been able to find himself in this music industry, as he released “Cha Cha Cha” for his UMK entry.   The song went viral on Spotify, and was the number one in the Finnish charts for several weeks. Tonight he competed and won over the public & jury vote. He has been number one in the odds for a month, and now recieved the ultimate price.   Käärijä will represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, in the first Semi Final.

Sweden sends Loreen and Smash Into Pieces direct to final

Tonight was the final heat in Melodifestivalen 2023. We’ve now seen every song competing in this years’ show. This week we’ve seen some familair faces, as Loreen & Mariette competed for a spot in the final.   And with that, Loreen succeeded to get a spot in the final, as she won this weeks heat with the most votes of the evening. Earlier this week her rehearsal made a magnificent change in the Eurovision odds, as it doubled the Swedish percentage, and now is first.   The second qualifier was Smash Into Pieces with “Six Feet Under” winning the twelve points in four different age groups! It’s the debut of the band at Melodifestivalen, and they are of to a great start!   The two semi final qualifiers were Marriete and Kiana.  Mariette is known in the Eurovision family, as she has competed in Melodifestivalen five times. Her highest result was fourth in 2017 with “A Million Years”.  Kiana is an upcoming music talent in Sweden. In 2021 she participated in Sweden’s got talent, and qualified for the final, and eventually was the runner up of the show. This year she tries to represent Sweden, and will try to succeed her place in the Semi Final.

Remo Forrer sings for Switzerland 2023

(Photo by Lukas Mäder/SRF) Today it has been anounced that 21 year old singer Remo Forrer will represent Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. It’s the fifth year in a row a young man will represent the small country.   Remo got selected internally by a small group of 120 people. 100 of those were regular television viewers, while the other 20 were music professionals. The vote of both groups each weighted 50% of the total outcome, making Remo Forrer the ultimate winner.    The young singer is not unknown in his own country, as he won The Voice Of Switzerland in 2020. He later on took part in several other Television Shows. Remo is also known in Germany for taking part in Zeig Uns Deine Stimme 2022. Maybe it will him gather some points from his neighbouring country.   After making a name for himself, he went on to release four singles. You can find his latest release “Out Loud” over here:   His Eurovision entry will be released on the 7th of March, but Forrer stated that the song has “earworm potential”. With that Remo hopes he can win over the public, and qualify in the First Semi-Final on May 9th.

Tonight’s third heat of the Swedish super show Melodifestivalen has come to an end, and we have a result! The first qualifiers were Marcus & Martinus. The Norweigan brothers brought an EDM pop called “Air’, with a budget spent on lots of lasers. Since it’s rehearsal earlier this week, the brothers have skyrocketed to the 2nd place in the betting odds. Will they win Melodifestivalen 2023?   The second qualifier is Paul Rey with “Royals”! We’ve known him since 2020, where “Talking In My Sleep” got him to 6th place in the final. In 2021 he gave it another shot, with “The Missing Piece” where he went on from Andra Chansen to the final.    The Semi Finalists of this week are Nordman & Melanie Wehde! Will they make it to the final? We will know it in 2 weeks.

Marco Mengoni wins San Remo 2023

It’s the second time he won the competition. In 2013, it was his first time winning the competition with “L’Essenziale”. Back then he went to the Eurovision Song Contest, and ended up quite high with 7th place.” The question is, will he participate in Eurovision again this year? Well, we only need to wait and find out. Alika wins Eesti Laul 2023

Photo by Mats Oun Alika has won Eesti Laul 2023, and will represent Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest with her song “Bridges”!   She went on the Superfinal, together with the rockband Bedwetters, and Ollie. In the end it was between Alika and Ollie, where she took eventual the victory. The annual German selection has taken place tonight. A lot of new talent has performed tonight, but the ultimate winner was Lord Of The Lost with “Blood & Glitter”. The Gothic band isn’t fully unknown troughout Europe, as they have toured with the popular Metal band Iron Maiden.  The tour resulted in multiple hit singles, and even in giving it a shot on the Eurovision stage. Sweden sends Loreen and Smash Into Pieces direct to final

Tonight was the final heat in Melodifestivalen 2023. We’ve now seen every song competing in this years’ show. This week we’ve seen some familair faces, as Loreen & Mariette competed for a spot in the final.   And with that, Loreen succeeded to get a spot in the final, as she won this weeks heat with the most votes of the evening. Remo Forrer sings for Switzerland 2023

It’s the fifth year in a row a young man will represent the small country.   Remo got selected internally by a small group of 120 people. 100 of those were regular television viewers, while the other 20 were music professionals. Tonight’s third heat of the Swedish super show Melodifestivalen has come to an end, and we have a result! The first qualifiers were Marcus & Martinus. The Norweigan brothers brought an EDM pop called “Air’, with a budget spent on lots of lasers. Marco Mengoni wins San Remo 2023

It’s the second time he won the competition. In 2013, it was his first time winning the competition with “L’Essenziale”. Sudden Lights has won Supernova 2023. The band will represent Latvia at Liverpool with “Aijā”. The song is sung in English and Latvian. It’s a mixture between a lullaby and a rock-drum song. Alika wins Eesti Laul 2023

Photo by Mats Oun Alika has won Eesti Laul 2023, and will represent Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest with her song “Bridges”!   She went on the Superfinal, together with the rockband Bedwetters, and Ollie. In the end it was between Alika and Ollie, where she took eventual the victory.
