Sweden: Melodifestivalen heat 4 is on

The very popular Swedish national selection Melodifestivalen will have it’s 4th and last heat tonight. Seven songs will compete, two will head directly to the final while two other songs will go to the semifinal. The show starts at 20:00 and you can watch it here.  The participating songs are:  Kiana sings “Where did you go?” Signe & Hjördis sing “Edelweiss” Smash Into Pieces sings “Six feet under” Mariette sings “One day” Emil Henrohn sings “Mera mera mera” Axel Schylström sings “Gorgeous” Loreen sings “Tattoo”   Mariette became 3rd in 2015, 4th in 2017, 5th in 2018 and 10th in 2020.Axel Schylström reached Andra Chancen in 2017.Loreen reached Andra Chancen in 2011, won Melodifestivalen 2012 and reached Andra Chancen in 2017. Loreen won the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with the legendary song “Euphoria”!

Hosts Eurovision 2023 revealed

The names of the 2023 Eurovision hosts have just been revealed by the BBC. Alesha Dixon, Graham Norton, Hannah Waddingham, and Julia Sanina as our Hosts for the Semi-Finals and Grand Final. Presenting the Grand Final will be Eurovision legend Graham Norton, award-winning Ukrainian singer, Julia Sanina (of The HARDKISS), internationally acclaimed musical theatre performer, three-time Olivier Award nominee and Emmy Award-winning actress, Hannah Waddingham, and singer-songwriter, pop star and TV presenter, Alesha Dixon.

Voyager to sing “Promise” for Australia

photo: SBS The band Voyager will represent Australia in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. They will sing a song called “Promise”. That is what Australian broadcaster SBS announced tonight. The band was the runner up in last year’s national final with the song “Dreamer”. Singer Daniel Estrin commented on the event: ““As a long-time Eurovision fan, this is the pinnacle – Voyager gets to play the greatest show on earth! Our song Promise is made for the Eurovision stage and collectively we feel it’s one of our best yet. We filmed the music video in both the city of Perth and beautiful parts of Western Australia to showcase the majestic beauty of our home state. Eurovisionation, we are coming!!!” SBS head of entertainment Emily Griggs said: “Voyager bring together my love for the ’80s and catchy lyrics that you can’t stop singing. I can’t wait to see Eurovision fans the world over embrace them as much as Aussie crowds have. Voyager have been determined to get centre stage for the biggest song contest in the world and SBS know they will bring that grit with them along with a whole lot of fun. Remo Forrer sings for Switzerland 2023

(Photo by Lukas Mäder/SRF) Today it has been anounced that 21 year old singer Remo Forrer will represent Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. It’s the fifth year in a row a young man will represent the small country.   Remo got selected internally by a small group of 120 people. 100 of those were regular television viewers, while the other 20 were music professionals. The vote of both groups each weighted 50% of the total outcome, making Remo Forrer the ultimate winner.    The young singer is not unknown in his own country, as he won The Voice Of Switzerland in 2020. He later on took part in several other Television Shows. Remo is also known in Germany for taking part in Zeig Uns Deine Stimme 2022. Maybe it will him gather some points from his neighbouring country.   After making a name for himself, he went on to release four singles. You can find his latest release “Out Loud” over here:   His Eurovision entry will be released on the 7th of March, but Forrer stated that the song has “earworm potential”. With that Remo hopes he can win over the public, and qualify in the First Semi-Final on May 9th.

La Zarra will sing “Évidemment”

It’s La Zarra who is going to represent France in the Eurovision Song Contest. That was announced by French television on January 12th this year. Tonight, her Eurovision song “Évidemment” has been revealed. The song is written and composed by herself, her producer Ben Adam and KNY Factory, the same team that wrote her big hit “Tu t’en iras”. Iceland: two finalists known

Iceland has had it’s first semifinal. Out of five songs, two finalists were chosen. Note that it’s not all over for the other three, as the jury will provide a wildcard for the final to one of the non qualifiers. Monika Linkytė won the Lithuanian national final Pabandom iš naujo tonight. She will sing the song “Stay” which is written and composed by Monika herself with Chris Noah. Monika took part before in Eurovision in 2015. Together with Vaidis Baumila she sang “This time”. The duo reached the final back in those days and became 18th there. Tonight’s third heat of the Swedish super show Melodifestivalen has come to an end, and we have a result! The first qualifiers were Marcus & Martinus. The Norweigan brothers brought an EDM pop called “Air’, with a budget spent on lots of lasers. Since it’s rehearsal earlier this week, the brothers have skyrocketed to the 2nd place in the betting odds. Will they win Melodifestivalen 2023?   The second qualifier is Paul Rey with “Royals”! We’ve known him since 2020, where “Talking In My Sleep” got him to 6th place in the final. In 2021 he gave it another shot, with “The Missing Piece” where he went on from Andra Chansen to the final.    The Semi Finalists of this week are Nordman & Melanie Wehde! Will they make it to the final? We will know it in 2 weeks.

After two heats and two semifinals, tonight Lithuania will select a Eurovision entry. Out of ten songs, the entry will be chosen by 50% jury and 50% televoting. The show starts at 20:00 CET and you can watch it here and on YouTube. Voyager to sing “Promise” for Australia

photo: SBS The band Voyager will represent Australia in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. They will sing a song called “Promise”. That is what Australian broadcaster SBS announced tonight. The band was the runner up in last year’s national final with the song “Dreamer”. Remo Forrer sings for Switzerland 2023

(Photo by Lukas Mäder/SRF) Today it has been anounced that 21 year old singer Remo Forrer will represent Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. It’s the fifth year in a row a young man will represent the small country.   Remo got selected internally by a small group of 120 people. 100 of those were regular television viewers, while the other 20 were music professionals. La Zarra will sing “Évidemment”

It’s La Zarra who is going to represent France in the Eurovision Song Contest. That was announced by French television on January 12th this year. Tonight, her Eurovision song “Évidemment” has been revealed. The song is written and composed by herself, her producer Ben Adam and KNY Factory, the same team that wrote her big hit “Tu t’en iras”. Iceland has had it’s first semifinal. Out of five songs, two finalists were chosen. Note that it’s not all over for the other three, as the jury will provide a wildcard for the final to one of the non qualifiers. It’s Monika Linkytė for Lithuania

Monika Linkytė won the Lithuanian national final Pabandom iš naujo tonight. She will sing the song “Stay” which is written and composed by Monika herself with Chris Noah. Monika took part before in Eurovision in 2015. Together with Vaidis Baumila she sang “This time”. The duo reached the final back in those days and became 18th there.
