Latvia is one of the last countries to present their entry. Samanta Tīna is going to sing “The moon is rising”, a song written and composed by Samanta herself together with Aminata Savadogo and Oskars Uhaņs.
On her Instagram, Samanta stated: “This song is about powerful and admirable women, about every single woman.
It’s Rafał Brzozowski who is going to represent Poland in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. He will sing the song “The ride”, written by Joakim Övrenius, Thomas Karlsson, Clara Rubensson and Johan Mauritzson. Rafał is not a newcomer to the Polish music industry. He rose to fame already in 2002 with his participation in the talent show Szansa na Sukces. In 2011 he took part in The Voice of Poland. Rafał released four studio albums so far. In 2019, he was a member of the Polish jury for the Eurovision Song Contest. Rafał will sing in the 2nd semifinal.
Today, also North Macedonia presented its song. Vasil will sing “Here I stand”, a song he wrote and composed himself. Vasil Garvanliev has some Eurovision experience. In 2019, he was involved in the successful entry “Proud”, sung by Tamara Todevska, as a backing vocal. In 2020 he was chosen to represent North Macedonia in the contest. After the cancellation it took a long time before North Macedonia confirmed Vasil as their contestant again, but here he is.
At the moment the Belarusian entry was published, people started complaining about the lyrics. The song was, in the eyes of many, a way to explicit political song. EBU started investigating and came up with a statement on the Belarusian song today: “As part of the regular procedure for all songs submitted to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC), the EBU has carefully scrutinized the Belarusian song, Ya Nauchu Tebya (I’ll Teach You) by Galasy ZMesta to ensure it complies with the rules of the competition. It was concluded that the song puts the non-political nature of the Contest in question. In addition, recent reactions to the proposed entry risk bringing the reputation of the ESC into disrepute. We’ve written to the broadcaster BTRC, which is responsible for Belarus’ entry for the Eurovision Song Contest, to inform them that the song, in its present form, is currently not eligible to compete. Furthermore we’ve requested that they take all necessary steps to submit a modified version, or a new song, that is compliant with the ESC rules. Failure to do so could result in disqualification from this year’s Contest.” What we are now all waiting for is a reaction of BTRC. Will the lyrics be changed or will Belarus withdraw from the contest. To be continued…. source: EBU
The title was already known for a few days, now the song itself has been presented: “Embers”. James Newman will sing the UK entry. The song is written and composed by Newman himself together with Connor Blake, Danny Shah, Tom Hollings and Samuel Brennan.
Many artists who were reinvited for the Eurovision Song Contest because they couldn’t participate last year, wrote a song and presented it. In Bulgaria, it went different. The public could make a choice from six titles, one of which will be performed in Rotterdam by Victoria.
We already knew it for a long time: Greek Stefania is going to sing “Last dance”, a song composed by Dimitris Kontopoulos and the composers collective ARCADE, with lyrics written by Sharon Vaughn. Today, she presented the song.
