After another long night in Benidorm the results are in. Blanca Paloma won the semifinal. Last year, Blanca took part as well, but she didn’t manage to reach the final back then.  The other finalists from tonight will be Vicco, Karmento and José Ottero. Iru Kechanovi has won The Voice Georgia and thus will represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest. The song, with which she will represent the country, will be presented later. Iru was coached by Dato Porchkhidze. She sang the Eurovision song “Euphoria” in the final. Iru gained 21,88% of the votes. It’s Brunette for Armenia

Brunette Rumour already had it, but now AMPTV (Armenian public broadcaster) has confirmed: Brunette will represent Armenia in Liverpool. Armenian television selected the singer internally. Brunette is one of the most famous singers in Armenia. Already when she was 15, she sang titles like “Night”, “Smoke Break” and “Light Blue Eyes”. On YouTube, she gained millions of views for these songs. Sending a young artist AMPTVs Executive Director Hovhannes Movsisyan commented on the selection of Brunette: “Last year, sending a young artist to Eurovision was justified. The song is still successful and captivates millions of fans. I hope this year we will surprise the European audience with a unique Armenian artist.” Selection process Davit Tserunyan, the Head of the Armenian delegation, added: “A few weeks after organising the Junior Eurovision in Yerevan, we started the process of selecting our representative for the contest. At this stage, we are working on the song and the video, which I am sure will be impressive!” Armenia in the Eurovision Song Contest Armenia is present in the contest since 2006. Two times (in 2008 with Sirusho and in 2014 with Aram mp3) the country reached a 4th place. It’s been a long night in Benidrom, but the spanish people and jury have voted! Agoney has won tonight’s Semi Final with 161 points! He got the maximal amount of points that you can get from the televote, which is 40. Wil he get the Benidorm trophy this Saturday? Not only Agoney went through, but Alice Wonder, Fusa Nocta & Megara qualified for the final aswell. It’s also notable that fan favorite Aritz Aren barely missed out on the final, with a shortage of 4 points.

Semi Final Allocation Draw

This year the allocation draw for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 has took place in Liverpools’ St. George’s Hall. AJ odudu and well known Rylan hosted this years event. Right before the actual draw happened, the mayor of last year’s host city Turin, Stefano Lo Russo, handed the Eurovision Key over to Joanne Anderson, the mayor of Liverpool.  At first the Big Five including: United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, plus last year’s winner Ukraine have been drawn for in which Semi Final the opposing countries will vote in.  These are the results: After the big five we’ve had the other 31 participating countries be drawn into two Semi Finals. Austria: Teya & Salena will sing in Liverpool

photo: ORF   A lot of Eurovision news comes in these days. This morning, radiostation Ö3 announced that Teya and Salena will represent Austria. The song, of which we don’t know the title yet, will be presented the 8th of March, International Women’s Day. Both Teya and Salena have some Eurovision experience. Salena did an attempt in the internal selection in 2019 and Teya in 2020. Under the name of Thea Devy, Teya took part in the 2020 Serbian national selection with the song “Sudnji dan”. Heddy Lester passed away

Heddy Lester At the age of 72, Dutch singer and actress Heddy Lester passed away. Heddy Lester is especially known in The Netherlands for representing the Netherlands in the 1977 Eurovision Song Contest. Carreer pre-eurovision Heddy Lester started her carreer in 1971, when she had a huge hit in The Netherlands with the “Railroad song” as half of the duo April Shower. The duo also toured throughout the USA. Since 1974 Heddy performed solo and in 1977 she won the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. De Mallemolen “De mallemolen” was composed by Heddy’s brother Frank Affolter. After the Eurovision Song Contest Heddy has been seen especially in theatres. The last role she played was in the Dutch movie “Groeten van Gerri”, where she played the role of a mother. There have been times when she didn’t want to sing “De mallemolen”. She wanted to concentrate on other things in her carreer. The last few years she embraced the song again. In The Netherlands it became a Eurovision classic.

This year the allocation draw for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 has took place in Liverpools’ St. George’s Hall. AJ odudu and well known Rylan hosted this years event. Austria: Teya & Salena will sing in Liverpool

photo: ORF   A lot of Eurovision news comes in these days. This morning, radiostation Ö3 announced that Teya and Salena will represent Austria. The song, of which we don’t know the title yet, will be presented the 8th of March, International Women’s Day. Both Teya and Salena have some Eurovision experience. Salena did an attempt in the internal selection in 2019 and Teya in 2020. Under the name of Thea Devy, Teya took part in the 2020 Serbian national selection with the song “Sudnji dan”. Heddy Lester passed away

Heddy Lester At the age of 72, Dutch singer and actress Heddy Lester passed away. Heddy Lester is especially known in The Netherlands for representing the Netherlands in the 1977 Eurovision Song Contest. Carreer pre-eurovision Heddy Lester started her carreer in 1971, when she had a huge hit in The Netherlands with the “Railroad song” as half of the duo April Shower. Tonight is the night: Benidorm Fest will start. Benidorm Fest is the Spanish national final for the Eurovision Song Contest. The show starts at 22.50 and can be seen here. Out of 9 songs, 4 will qualify for the final.
