Tonight the Lithuanian national final heats “Pabandom iš Naujo!” will continue with it’s 3rd heat. You can watch it here and here at 20.00 CET. 12 songs will compete; six out of them will go to one of the semifinals. Tonight EBU and RAI revealed the slogan and the logo of the2022 Eurovision Song Contest in Turin.  After “Dare to dream”, “Open up” and “Open up again”, the new slogan will be “The sound of beauty”. In memoriam: Armando Gama

Sad news again: yesterday, january 17th, Armando Gama passed away. Armando Gama represented Portugal in th 1983 Eurovision Song Contest. He reached the 13th place. Armando Gama was a Portuguese singer-songwriter, musician  and baritone opera singer. Gama grew up in Angola and lived there until the age of 17. Upon moving to Portugal in 1971, he scored the first of many nr 1 hits on the Portuguese music charts. In his four-decade music career, he has sold over five million records in Portugal alone. Armando Gama died of cancer in Lisbon. He was 67 years old.

Carmela Corren passed away

Today we’ve received the sad news that Israeli singer Carmela Corren passed away. Corren, whose real name was Carmela Bizman, was born in Tel Aviv in 1938. In the sixties she built up a career in the German speaking countries. In 1962 she took part in the German national final for the Eurovision Song Contest. “Eine Rose aus Santa Monica” only received one vote, but became a huge hit in the charts afterwards. A year later, Austrian broadcaster ORF invited her to represent Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest. She did, with the song “Vielleicht geschieht ein Wunder”. The song reached the 7th place in the contest in London. Carmela Corren remained popular in the German speaking countries in the early 1960s. She also played in a lot of German movies. However, her career faded after that time. She made several albums in the late 1960s and the early 1970s, also one in Hebrew. Carmela Corren lived in Florida, USA. She withdrew from showbusiness, but every now and then she performed  at Jewish folk festivals. Corren was 83 years old.

Vladana represents Montenegro

After a 2 year break, which includes the cancelled contest of 2020, Montenegro is back in the Eurovision Song Contest. The country will be represented by 35 yo Vladana Vučinić. That is what Montenegrin broadcaster RTCG revealed today with a video you can watch here. Vladana started her career in 2003 on a national karaoke show. Her song “Ostaćeš mi vječna ljubav” took part in the Budva Mediterrenean Festival. In 2005 and 2006 she took part in Montevizija, the Montenegrin national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Ronela Hajati wins in Albania

Out of 17 contestants, it was Ronela Hajati who won Festival i Këngës 2021. That means, she will represent Albania in the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Sekret”, which translates as secret. It was the very first time Ronela participated in Festival i Këngës. Vladana represents Montenegro

After a 2 year break, which includes the cancelled contest of 2020, Montenegro is back in the Eurovision Song Contest. The country will be represented by 35 yo Vladana Vučinić. That is what Montenegrin broadcaster RTCG revealed today with a video you can watch here. Vladana started her career in 2003 on a national karaoke show. Her song “Ostaćeš mi vječna ljubav” took part in the Budva Mediterrenean Festival. In 2005 and 2006 she took part in Montevizija, the Montenegrin national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Out of 17 contestants, it was Ronela Hajati who won Festival i Këngës 2021. That means, she will represent Albania in the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Sekret”, which translates as secret. It was the very first time Ronela participated in Festival i Këngës. Tonight EBU and RAI revealed the slogan and the logo of the2022 Eurovision Song Contest in Turin.  After “Dare to dream”, “Open up” and “Open up again”, the new slogan will be “The sound of beauty”. In memoriam: Armando Gama

Sad news again: yesterday, january 17th, Armando Gama passed away. Armando Gama represented Portugal in th 1983 Eurovision Song Contest. He reached the 13th place. Armando Gama was a Portuguese singer-songwriter, musician  and baritone opera singer. Gama grew up in Angola and lived there until the age of 17. Upon moving to Portugal in 1971, he scored the first of many nr 1 hits on the Portuguese music charts. In his four-decade music career, he has sold over five million records in Portugal alone. Armando Gama died of cancer in Lisbon. He was 67 years old.

Carmela Corren passed away

Today we’ve received the sad news that Israeli singer Carmela Corren passed away. Corren, whose real name was Carmela Bizman, was born in Tel Aviv in 1938. In the sixties she built up a career in the German speaking countries. In 1962 she took part in the German national final for the Eurovision Song Contest. “Eine Rose aus Santa Monica” only received one vote, but became a huge hit in the charts afterwards.
