“THE WORD IS OUT! I am indescribably honored to represent The Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020! It’s a dream come true and the most beautiful thing that has come my way so far. My team and I are excited to make you all very proud! Let’s go!”, those are the words Jeangu Macrooy wrote on his Facebook page today. He will be the Dutch representative in the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest. Yesterday, Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad mentioned Jeangu as the Dutch representative. That was just a few hours after his manager denied Jeangu’s participation. Jeangu Macrooy is a Surinam-Dutch soulsinger. He was born in Paramaribo and came to The Netherlands in 2014. He is most wellknown for his song “Gold”, which was part of a commercial for Game of Thrones. He became more wellknown to the Dutch audience by playing the role of Judas in The Passion, a Dutch television show around the easter story. The song Jeangu Macrooy will bring, will probably be presented in march. Cornald Maas, says the song is very outspoken. “This autumn, he came with a song that overwhelmed us so much that we thought: this must be the song for 2020”. source: nu.nl
